Calm & Smooth

A gentle 15 to 20 minute tandem flight designed specifically for first-time flyers and anyone who wants to overcome a fear of heights. You take off from 700 to 1,000 metres and fly only in calm, smooth air. Your pilot manages every aspect of the flight so you can settle in. Suitable for passengers from age 6. Transport to the takeoff site, your safety briefing, and all the equipment are included.

The takeoff is quiet. One step, then two, and the ground releases you — no running start, no jolt. For the next quarter of an hour, you are seated in a padded harness beside a pilot who is in constant contact with the glider and the air. Most passengers find they can breathe again around the two-minute mark. After that, there is nothing left to brace for. You will hear the wing rustle overhead. You will feel the air shift as the pilot turns. You will see your feet hanging over the coast of Costa Adeje, and you will notice that you are looking, not clinging. That is what this flight is for — letting you look.

Below you, the white village of La Caleta. To your right, the long crescent of Playa de Enramada, where you will land. On a clear day, the island of La Gomera sits on the horizon to the west, its volcano wrapped in cloud. The Barranco del Infierno gorge cuts up into the mountains behind you, dark green against the volcanic ridges of Taucho. You are 700 metres above everything, held by a wing the size of a parking space, sitting in the easiest air Tenerife offers. This is the south coast at its most forgiving — which is why we fly here first with anyone who has ever looked out of a plane window and wondered if they could do this.
