Taucho
Taucho is where most of our flying happens. The launch sits at about 800 metres, on the mountainside just below the village of Taucho above Adeje, with a wide, open grass takeoff and some of the most consistent conditions in Europe. On a normal day the air is smooth, the thermals are reliable, and the whole south coast opens up beneath you. It is our default takeoff for the Calm & Smooth, Instructional, and Premium flights, and the site we recommend to almost everyone flying for the first time.
Getting to the launch
Getting up there is on us: we take you to the top in our own van, included in every flight, so there is no need for a 4x4 or a car of your own. The drive from Costa Adeje takes about 25 minutes and climbs from the coast into the pine forest above the resort. The exact meeting point is confirmed when you book, so on the day all you have to think about is the flight.
Flying conditions
Taucho works because the wind and the sun cooperate here more reliably than almost anywhere else. The site sits with the prevailing sea breeze, and the slopes below feed steady thermals through the middle of the day, which is why we run most flights from late morning into the afternoon. It is a forgiving place: gentle to launch from, roomy in the air, and rarely rough. If the weather does not cooperate we do not fly. You choose what happens next: a new date, or a full refund. We would rather move a flight than push a marginal one.
What you'll see
From launch you look straight down the Adeje coastline, with the Los Gigantes cliffs further up the coast and the open Atlantic in front. On a clear day the island of La Gomera sits on the horizon, and if you turn inland the pine forest climbs towards El Teide behind you. Most of the flight is spent over the coast, so the view is the sea, the resorts far below, and the light on the water.

Is Taucho good for beginners?
Yes. It is our most beginner-friendly site: a wide grass launch, smooth air, gentle conditions. Most first-time passengers fly from here.
What will I see?
The Adeje coastline, the Los Gigantes cliffs, the Atlantic, and on clear days the island of La Gomera. Behind you, the pine forest rising towards El Teide.
How long is the drive?
About 25 minutes from the coast, up into the pine forest above the resort.
What is the difference between Taucho and Ifonche?
Taucho is lower, smoother, and used for most flights. Ifonche is higher and more exposed, and we use it only for the Pro XC cross-country flight.
