Ifonche
Ifonche is our high-altitude launch. It sits at 1,100 metres on the ridges above the Barranco del Infierno, higher and more exposed than Taucho, and it is where the flying gets serious. We use it for one flight only: the Pro XC. This is not a first tandem. It is a longer, more committed cross-country flight for people who want distance, altitude, and more time in the air, alongside a pilot who knows every line of the mountain.
Getting to the launch
As with all our sites, getting up there is on us: we take you up in our own van, included in the flight, on a road that climbs about 35 minutes from the coast into the higher ground behind Adeje. The last stretch is genuine mountain terrain, part of why Ifonche stays quieter and wilder than the busier coastal launches.
Flying conditions
Ifonche rewards experience. The extra height and exposure give stronger, more active air, and the ridges above the ravine set up the thermal lines our pilots use to fly cross-country. On a good day you gain plenty of height, move between ridges, and cover ground rather than circling above the launch. That is why, for the Pro XC, we pick the day carefully to catch the right air. When it comes together, it is the best flying on the island.
What you'll see
You launch above the Barranco del Infierno, a deep protected ravine that cuts down through the mountains behind Adeje, with the valley opening below and the southern coast beyond it. Because you fly higher and further than on a standard tandem, the view keeps changing: the ravine, the ridgelines, the pine forest, the coast, and El Teide standing over all of it inland. It is a mountain flight first and a coastal one second.

Cross-country flying depends on good conditions. If the air is not right we move the flight rather than fly a poor one. You choose: a new date, or a full refund.
